I was eagerly looking forward to visiting The Grind Coffeehouse during our family trip to Cedar City, drawn by the cozy ambiance and positive word-of-mouth. The setting did not disappoint, offering a welcoming and comfortable environment that seemed perfect for enjoying a coffee break with loved ones.
I ordered an espresso and an almond croissant, anticipating a delightful pairing. The espresso was served promptly and lived up to my expectations—rich and robust, a fine example of a well-prepared coffee. However, the experience took an unexpected turn with the almond croissant order. After a 30-minute wait, which dampened the initial excitement, I inquired about our order, only to discover it had been forgotten. In an attempt to rectify the oversight, a plain croissant was hastily provided instead of the almond one I paid for. This mix-up was disappointing, particularly because I was looking forward to the specific treat I had ordered.
While the atmosphere at The Grind Coffeehouse is indeed inviting, and the coffee meets the mark, the oversight in service and the mix-up with the order led to a less than satisfactory experience. It’s my hope that this was an isolated incident and not indicative of the usual service standards, as the potential for a truly enjoyable visit is clearly there.
Funky, hip coffee house. The clientele is young and energetic. I'm in my 40's and found the energy....energetic. It's attached to a bookstore and gift shop which is so fun. It's a little louder than some quiet coffee houses but I didn't mind.
Wonderful stop as we started the second day of our road trip. Had delicious breakfast that included the firehouse sandwich and a mixed berry hand pie. The hand pie was hot and fresh from the oven. Coffees and hot chocolate were exactly what you want. Would love to stop again.
Kind, friendly staff and delicious, easy food. Stopped through here on a roadtrip and it was the perfect gathering spot to meet a family member. Spacious and welcoming with easy parking right out front.
This is my favorite coffee house in Cedar. I get a Matcha Latte almost every day and they even use the ceremonial grade matcha which is the premium kind! Love the vibe and the staff are very friendly and kind!
Came in on a chilly afternoon and the barista made my mocha extra cute! I’ve been coming here for the last few years and highly recommend The Grind for people who love good vibes and excellent coffee.
I went to college here a decade ago and even worked for the Grind when it was family owned. Seeing that it finally sold felt bittersweet (they listed it ten years ago).
On the one hand I miss the more cozy, mismatched furniture feeling it had back then, but on the other hand the new in-house roasting is pretty cool. The atmosphere is basically the same: laid back. They also kept some of the old furniture despite the renovations. While the new menus are easier to read, the flair of the old chalk menus was more homey.
That said, the coffee tastes how I remember and is still Cafe Ibis. The espresso here is very bitter and strong, so be warned.
Food was good. Kolob salad was HUGE and tbh I didn’t even finish it! Glad to see vegan options.
My only critique is the use of Califia oatmilk. Personally, I prefer Chobani in my coffee especially iced coffee because it doesnt separate which Califia does. Chobani also makes an extra creamy version for latte steaming.
All in all, nice to stop in again. There’s def more space for students to study, and it would be a nice atmosphere for it.
The location, service and coffee was all perfect. This is located in nice looking historic downtown area. It’s connected to a bookstore also. The coffee was really good.
